Remedy partnered up with Resource Media to highlight local farmers who are working towards carving a new path in agriculture on efforts around sustainability. This series of deliverables was focused around Kamal Bell over at Sankofa Farms and we couldn’t be more proud of being a part of projects like these!

Docu-style filmmaking is in our blood, it’s where we got our start, and the lessons learned and skill sets gained from it are things we carry into every project we do. We love big sets with lots of moving parts, but there’s something about the run ’n gun style of shooting with practically no crew, great subject material, and interesting locations that keeps us coming back to projects like these.

We didn’t have much time for production on this project, less than a day, and our gear consisted of a camera package and a drone – that’s it! We did our research and planning to make sure we could carve out some great interview material and made sure to film everything we needed early in the day before the sun hit its highest point to get the best looking stuff we could with the limited resources we had. Once we were done with lunch, we sat down for our chat with Kamal for the interview and that was it!

We love bringing depth and interest in every way we can to an edit, so once we sat back down at our desks we covered off on the handful of specific subject-based deliverables the client needed, and from there made the hero edit that you see above. We wanted it to feel fresh, personal and meaningful to Kamal’s story, and be something we’d want to watch ourselves! We love how the project turned out and can’t wait to find our next docu-style project down the road!
